The Footprint Fund, a program of Climate Smart Missoula, allows individuals, businesses, and nonprofits opportunities to "offset" energy use by supporting local energy savings projects.
In turn, it allows fund recipients -- developers, builders, or other nonprofits -- to add energy saving measures or renewable energy to housing or other buildings. These are efforts they could not do without this funding boost! The Footprint Fund fills a crucial gap. |

Why support this fund?
There are many climate solutions out there, yet some are inaccessible, and some of us don't have the time to step into the fray as much as we'd like. Helping to fund on-the-ground efforts in our community has an outsized impact because dollars are pooled, and we find the most effective and needed projects.
Some of you may love the challenge of reducing your own contribution to the climate crisis (IOW - your footprint). Yet it can be hard to get to zero emissions -- we're still connected to energy and transportation systems that make it nearly impossible. This Footprint Fund helps multi-solve by both reducing carbon pollution and helping our low-income friends and neighbors. We help reduce a community member's energy bill and improve the comfort of their home.

Here at the Human Resource Council, we're so thrilled that we're on the receiving end of carbon offset funds. We are using these funds for weatherization work. We're so grateful to add extra insulation or replace a window in the homes or our neighbors, measures we would not have been able to do without these extra Footprint Funds. Most recently we have helped a couple homes "Go Electric" even allowing a couple to go from no stove at all to an induction range!
A mighty big Thank You!
Financially supporting energy savings for others is just one way we can take action to reduce climate impacts.
