BADWAXERS 500

This is a special Climate Smart Missoula page for the BADWAXERS 500 group.
Here's how we can offset the carbon we've emitted to ski all those sweet K's:

  1. Check our default 2021 Badwax season calculation of driving 1500 miles in a 25 mpg car. If that seems reasonably close, you can donate ~$20 to Climate Smart's new Footprint Fund for local carbon-reduction projects. (See default math below.)

  2. Climate Smart will use these funds to weatherize low-income houses in our area through a partnership with the Human Resource Council. This helps folks struggling through a cold pandemic winter, provides local jobs, saves energy (helping us meet our community's climate goals!), and does a bit to safeguard snowy skiing winters for our future.

  3. Receive and show off  a cool, new Badwax/Footprint Fund sticker -- and be entered in a drawing for a pair of nordic skis!

  4. Know that MTCX will match your donation to The Footprint Fund. It's like getting double K but for the climate!

The default calculation looks like this: 500k / 20k per day = 25 trips. At 60 miles average driving per trip (because close-in trails were unavailable) that's 1,500 miles. In a 25mpg vehicle the offset costs $.013 / mile. So $20!
